Home Sweet Home

After it seemed like it would never end, the rough part of the schedule is over and the Nuggets are charging ahead and ready to ride the ship back home to the Pepsi Center.  And home they will be as 11 of the next 13 games are in Denver.  Does home court even matter that much?  I'll give you two numbers: 12 and 2.  That is the Nuggets' home record so far this year.  How about their road record?  Denver is a mediocre 9-14 away from home.  Home court has been the key in keeping the Nuggets from falling to the bottom of the Western Conference early in the season.  Denver currently sits in the 7th seed in the West.  I believe Denver could possibly move up a spot in the seeding (or even two spots) after this long home stretch!  But who wants to worry about playoff seeding at this point in the season?  Denver needs to worry about one game at a time and find a way to string some wins together consistently.  Inconsistency is what I think has been the problem with the Nuggets so far this season.  The month of November was frustrating as a 4-game winning streak seemed to be followed by a 3-game losing streak.  Last month was equally as frustrating since the wins and losses seemed to follow one after another.  The Nuggets hope that January is the month in which a winning streak may not come to an end with consecutive losses.  So far so good as the Nuggets have won 4 of 5 in the month and are taking a 3-game win streak into Friday night's game against Cleveland.  Consistency is the key.  Let's hope they find it at home.

Golden Nugget Award

I'm giving the award to Andre Miller this time around!  I really enjoy the way Andre plays most of the time; and when Ty Lawson was out, Miller really stepped up and put in many quality minutes in a win to the Clippers and a tough loss to Minnesota.  Miller had a double-double in both those games and I believe he is capable of putting out those kind of numbers every night when he is given the minutes.  I would like to see Coach Karl give Andre 5 to 10 more minutes off the bench every night that he doesn't start.

Looking Ahead

The Nuggets are playing a struggling Cleveland Cavaliers team Friday night in a game they should win to extend their winning streak to 4.  Then on Sunday the Nuggets take on a tough, talented Golden State squad which should be a fun game.  The Nuggets have already played the Warriors 3 times this season, winning two of them in close games and losing the third by 1!  Denver finishes off the home stand against Portland before heading to OKC to face the Thunder for the first time this season in the second of a back to back.

Final Word

If the Nuggets win their next 4 games, I will pull my old Denver Nuggets Carmelo Anthony shirt out of the garbage and wear it for a whole day!  I'm not kidding.  That would definitely be bitter-sweet.
